The Role

All of our teams, from the Caringorms, to Sutherland and Loch Ness thrive in seeing the small wins and restoration of our spectacular and elemental landscapes. This role will see you stepping in to a Nature Ranger position, where your primary responsibilities will be in acting as Keeper as part of the Sutherland Nature Team. You will deliver the operational requirements of land management and all aspects of the Land & Forestry Strategy Plan under the direction of the Sutherland Head Keeper. You will also partner with the Land & Forestry Coordinators, Field Ecologist, Third Party Ecologists, and Stakeholders, working cohesively to develop knowledge and understanding to have a positive impact on our Estates, being instrumental in our focus on the stewardship of ecosystems under our care.
Importantly, you will also have a key role in partnering with our Hospitality Team as a Ranger providing talks, presentations and guided experiences including walks, 4x4 tours, to our guests to share foraging, tree planting. Being comfortable with, and passionate about curating and sharing beautiful, luxurious and wild experiences in key.
Key Responsibilities
Be a positive team player prioritising team success and contributing positively to the Sutherland Nature Team in delivery of all aspects of the Land & Forestry Management Plans, in particular (but not exclusively) the effective deer management on the Estates.
Partner with the Sutherland Nature Team to ensure good governance, reporting, and effective implementation of the Operational Plans.
Provide Nature Experiences to our Hospitality Guests and Nature Visitors including talks, presentations, guided walks, tours, foraging, and specific aspects to facilitate wild water swimming.
Partner with the Field Ecologists and Ecology Specialist to develop your knowledge and expertise and to support the development of the Nature Team as it evolves into a new era of Conservation.
Participate in and contribute to the high standards and compliance, risk assessment and health & safety adherence, along with reporting all matters requiring improvement / maintenance in respect of buildings, roads, fencing, dyke to appropriate teams.
Ensure your company provided vehicle and equipment are maintained to a high standard of road worthiness, and cleanliness to be suitable for any colleague, guest, or visitor.
Partner with the Activities Manager to ensure that (where reasonably practical) the Nature Story is shared with our guests, providing that such activities do not place any of our conservation plans at risk of damage or present potential jeopardy.
Participate in the external sharing of our Nature Story and be an Ambassador for Wildland.

You will have a conservation background, ideally with some keeper experience, along with a natural ability to communicate your work and the long-term goals of the project.
